Registration of Errors on AdBlue Memory Systems

Within the AdBlue systems, there is a group of important errors (called “long term” errors), which can only be cleared after 400 days.
These errors will be NOT PRESENT or INACTIVE and cannot be cleared even if they have been corrected, but they are not displayed on the vehicle if the problem has been solved. They can only be read with a diagnostic tool.

This system has been designed like this legally, and there is nothing a diagnostic tool can do about it.
Below there is an example of a warning displayed on most of the driver’s manual son Euro 5 vehicles.
Warning
This symbol is displayed whenever an error code has been stored in one of the electronic units of the engine management or in the exhaust gases aftertreatment system.
The engine does not meet the emission requirements demanded by the legislation.
If this warning is ignored, there will be a reduction on the automatic engine torque. Check: Minimum legal level of AdBlue.
The inspectors can read the error codes up to 400 days after they have been recorded on the system.
